La Chascona was designed in 1953 by Nobel-winning poet, Pablo Neruda, as a romantic getaway for the woman with the "tousled hair" (where the house gets its nickname) who'd eventually become his third wife. The library, the bedroom in a tower and secret passageway transport you to a dulce vida worth every love poem. Make sure to call for a reservation before visiting.
